Abstract

We have studied the magnetization of melt spun amorphous (Co1-xFex)74Mn8B12Si6 alloys with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15. The magnetic moment of the amorphous alloys increases linearly at 4.2 K with addition of Fe. From the usual values of Co and Fe moments, and based on the charge transfer model, the Mn moment is estimated to be 3.5μB. The approach to saturation is established in the form of 1/H1/2 for the various samples. Therefore, it is considered that the exchange interaction between the nearest neighbor T (T = Co, Fe and Mn) atoms is dominantly ferromagnetic. The exchange constant, local random anisotropy constant, and ferromagnetic correlation length have been calculated.
